Simon Norfolk

Simon Norfolk is a War Photographer, taking most of his images in the war in iraq. The content of his images are distressing, mainly because the images he captures are those which as usually hidden by common media insight into the current wartime situations.
I feel his images are liberating in themselves as they show the public eye hidden truths.

9/10 as the images are incredibly successful as showing people behind the scenes information.

Dorothea Lange

Dorothea Lange is another social realist potographer who was commissioned as a photographer to create propaganda images to do with farming in america in 1935. Her images focus a lot on anguish, often in women and children, making them quite distressing, and thus effective in their purpose. I feel that these images are quite gritty, and this makes them get to the point. The fact theyre also in black and white also enhances the emotion with the contrast and lighting used.

Henri Cartier-Bresson

Henri's photos portray social realism. The use of photography to show real life eras is effective and quite emotional for its viewer. I feel that the Black and White photographs he produced as the contrast and composition was well done.
6/10 as i feel that the images are a bit dull and can sometimes be boring, as if they were taken by mistake

Martin Parr

Martin Parrs work is really entertaining, and reminds me of steriotypical holiday snapshots with a twist. The images are quirky and bright, meaning the audiences attention is captured instantly, and this makes me feel like the images are successful. I like the brightness of the images and the vivid lighting that he uses.
9/10 as i feel his images are sometimes quite cheesy, but none the less effective.

Ansel Adams

Ansel Adams work is primarily in black and white, in high contrast, and the subject matter is generally of landscapes. I feel that his work is somewhat eerie, yet i also feel it is too grainy to have a full effect on me. Although it shows beauty in obscure places, The images themselves, i feel wouldnt do the actual place justice.

Steve Bloom

Steve Bloom is a wildlife photographer who uses composition, and natural light as well as a zoom to get photographs of wild animals in their natural habitats. I really like his photos as they're so well done and well edited afterwards.

Mark Arnold

Mark Arnold photographs still life in very unusual settings. His editing, and colour composition used in his work is very impressive, making the still life composition look 3 dimentional and as if it could literally fall out of the image.
8/10 as i dont necessarily like the focus of his work, however his work is so well done, it counteracts my own dislike of the subjects.
